California Fundraiser for SFAS 2006
BACOLOD “BABES” RAISE STAKES WITH BIGGEST FUNDRAISER
The Babes of Bacolod, a group of women who hail from Bacolod and are now Los Angeles,
California residents, outdid themselves with their biggest fundraiser to date by hosting a
cocktail party at the home of Billy and Joy de la Cruz-Herd on October 7, 2006. By raising
almost $5,000 to benefit the Tapulanga Foundation and the St. Francis of Assisi School, the
women, who jokingly call themselves “Babes,” have continued with their annual commitment
to send deserving children to school.

The event was coordinated by Janice de la Cruz-Ragona with the assistance of Geraldine
Yulo, who put together an impressive menu of Spanish inspired dishes, and Joy de la
Cruz-Herd, who was in charge of décor. Sous chefs Ina Clemente-Tongson and Catherine Yulo-Khan
were on hand to help out with food preparation and cooking. Assisting with décor were
Lenlen Severino and Laurice Sibala. Agnes Severino-Clemente manned the bar where beer and
wine were sold. New to this year’s event was a silent auction with gift baskets donated by
Warner Bros., David Letterman, and Rafe Totengco. Donations were generated from the 70
guests who attended the party as well as from friends, family and co-workers of the
“Babes.”
